Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12–15 tablespoons Nutella (chocolate-hazelnut spread)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt to combine
  3. Add softened butter and sugars, cream until smooth
  4. Fold in eggs one at a time
  5. Roll 1 tablespoon of cookie dough into a ball, flatten slightly on a baking sheet
  6. Place 1 tablespoon of Nutella in the center, fold dough over the filling and flatten into a disc
  7. Freeze dough discs for 30 minutes until firm
  8. Bake for 12–13 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack

Notes

Freezing the Nutella-filled dough before baking is crucial to prevent the filling from leaking or melting too quickly. Adjust dough quantity depending on cookie size (12–15 large cookies). For stricter halal adherence, use halal-certified Nutella.
